WINNER, OUTSTANDING WORK - 2026 Green Room Awards
(Contemporary & Experimental Performance),
also nominated for: Outstanding Design, Outstanding Technical Achievement.
Diagrammatica is a genre-defying work. Part live drawing, durational performance and participatory ritual,
it invites people into a shifting system of co-creation through sculpture, film, spatial sound, and improvised music.
At its heart is an evolving “diagram” a live audiovisual composition built from abstract fragments inspired by quantum physics and astral photography. This structure is continually reshaped by small groups of participants in a concealed space. Their gestures are filmed, transformed into real-time visuals, and projected into a public gallery where people can watch and listen as the work unfolds.
Each session also features live musical improvisation. Guest musicians respond to the visuals as a graphic score, performing through a custom-built, hyper-directional sound system that weaves participant actions into an ambient, responsive soundscape.
Diagrammatica is an immersive, collective search for cosmology, connection, and coherence. A ritual of making sense together.
The first iteration was presented by Strange Engine with Federation Square (Melbourne) and RISING, June 3–15, 2025.
